my practice investigates how ceramic materials externalize the process of becoming human. I explore how we engage in continual negotiations with the structures and circumstances that shape us through the use of unconventional building and firing processes.
fresh clay rejects adherence to vitrified surfaces, cracking and shifting as it shrinks to a rigid structure. I leverage these fractures as evidence of resistance and records of transformation. Through accumulation across multiple firings, the work grows beyond my authorial control, depicting a moment where ceramic material explores agency. each form exists in a frozen state of becoming, where remnants of past structures and emerging growth coexist.
